Golden pocket
The narrow band between the 61.8% and 65% retracement levels of a swing.
What it shows
The golden pocket is a zone, not a line. It spans from the 61.8% retracement to the 65% retracement of a swing. Some traders pay special attention to a pullback that reaches it.
It is a drawing convention. There is no strong evidence that price reacts there more than at other levels.
How we find it
The same code that draws it on your chart follows these steps, with the same result every time.
- Find a major swing.
- Draw the 61.8% and 65% retracement levels.
- Shade the band between them.
- Mark bars that entered the band.
Starting values: Band 61.8% to 65%; Minimum swing 10% of price. These are proposed and will be tuned on real price data before launch.
How to read it
- The gold band is the golden pocket.
- Price entering the band means the pullback has reached about 62% to 65% of the swing.
- The swing high and low are marked.
Status labels you may see
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Above the pocket | Pullback is shallower than 61.8%. |
| In the pocket | The last close is inside the band. |
| Below the pocket | Pullback is deeper than 65%. |
What cancels it
A close below the start of the swing.
