Fibonacci projection
Three swing points A, B and C used to draw levels where a move of the same size as AB, or a Fibonacci fraction of it, would end.
What it shows
A projection starts with three points: A, B and C. The size of the move from A to B is measured, and levels are drawn from C at 61.8%, 100% and 161.8% of that size.
At 100% the second move equals the first. The levels are drawn as reference lines. They do not say price will reach them.
How we find it
The same code that draws it on your chart follows these steps, with the same result every time.
- Find three alternating swing points: A (low), B (high), C (higher low).
- Measure the AB move.
- Draw lines from C at 61.8%, 100% and 161.8% of the AB move.
- Extend the lines to the right.
Starting values: Levels 61.8, 100, 161.8%; Retracement of C 30% to 80% of AB. These are proposed and will be tuned on real price data before launch.
How to read it
- The three gold dots are A, B and C.
- Cyan lines are the projected levels from C.
- The 100% line is the point where the second move equals the first.
Status labels you may see
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Before 61.8% | Price has not reached the first level. |
| Between 61.8% and 100% | Between those lines. |
| Beyond 100% | The second move is bigger than the first. |
What cancels it
A close below point C.
What traders check next
- Whether the second move is on track relative to the first.
- Whether the levels line up with other levels.
- Time taken by each move.
Limits
- It depends on three chosen points.
- Levels are reference lines, not forecasts.
- Choosing a different C changes everything.
Try it in forecastviz

Questions
How is it different from an extension?
An extension measures from the start of the swing. A projection measures from C.
How is it related to measured moves?
The 100% level is the measured-move idea: the second leg equals the first.
